바벨탑으로 인해 인간들의 언어가 분리되고, 그로 인한 불협화음은 오해와 다툼을 낳는다. 오해와 진실을 오가는 끊임없는 움직임의 연속들 속에 그는 말이 아닌 따뜻한 포옹으로 사랑을 이야기한다.

<바벨>에서 이재영(안무)과 김지혜는 바벨탑에 얽힌 이야기에서
영감을 받아 인간의 묵직한 행동이 달콤한 언어 보다 더 진실할 수 있음을 표현한다.
그들은 언어가 주는 오해와 행동이 주는 진실을 자신들의 대사와 춤에 대입 시켰는데,
특히 대결적 구도와 협력적 조화의 미묘한 균형 잡기가 돋보였다.
구성상의 탄탄함과 함께 은근한 유머 역시 적절했다.

사람의 몸, 특히 머리를 마치 공처럼 사용하는가 하면 무대 뒤에서나 볼 수 있는 무용수들의 휴식을 그대로 무대 앞에서 보여주는 모습은 그의 재치가 돋보이는 장면이었다. 소소한 움직임의 다채로운 활용, 고정 관념을 뒤집은 반전까지 적당히 가미된 재미있는 소품이었다.“

이재영은 즉흥공연에서도 눈에 띄었던 인물로 <휴식> 이라는 작품에서 휴식의 간절함과 공허함을 농구의 이미지를 빌어 사실적으로 표현했다. 끝없는 신체운동의 정지 뒤의 공허함, 그것이 안무자의 휴식으로 설정한 그는 하수 벽 쪽에 한정된 불빛 속에서 자신과 여성무용수 이다솜과 함께 벽을 이용해 연속적 움직임을 이어갔다. 이재영은 자신의 머리를 농구공이 튕기듯 반동을 주고 두 남녀는 무음 속에서 일관된 주제와 모티브를 발전시켜 나갔다. 곳곳에 숨겨진 웃음코드를 잘 살려냈고, 심박동처럼 규칙적인 타악음에 맞춰 남녀의 적절한 힘의 균형이 조화를 이뤘다…. 무엇보다 에너지의 충만함과 군더더기 없는 주제와 열정이 돋보였다움직임.

이재영의 <기타리스트>는 움직임과 이야기를 동시에 전달하고자 더 고민한 느낌이다. 남성 두명이 마이크를 가운데 두고 실뜨기를 하듯 정교한 동작으로 주고 받는다.
마이크를 잡고 독백을 하는 여성 뒤로 서로 돌리고 부딪치면서 거친 움직임을 이어가더니 여성을 밀어내고 당기며 점점 역동성을 극대화 한다. 마음이 찡해지는 여성의 독백도 좋다.
젊은 안무가가 선사하는 신체 움직임에 집중하거나, 이야기를 눈여겨 보거나, 독특한 표현에 놀라거나 적어도 하나는 경험하게 될 자리인 것은 확실하다.

√ 협업의 전제는 소통과 표현
극적 대사를 활용한 이재영의 <기타리스트>에서 마이크의 역할은 지금까지 필자가 경험한 어떤 춤보다 절대적이었다. 이 작품은 젊은 세대의 독백을 계속해서 대사로 엮었고 세 출연자는 각자의 꿈, 공상, 푸념, 즉 속내를 마이크로 발설한다. <기타리스트>는 춤과 연극 대사를 결합하여 두 장르를 넘나들었으며, 출연자들이 해내는 발성, 기타연주, 움직임은 모두 평균치 이상이었다. 극적 도구 즉 발성무용수을 수용하는 춤으로써 관객과 재미난 소통을 이루었다. 그 세대의 페이소스를 짙게 전달하는 그들의 솜씨는 이번 공연을 코믹 춤극 혹은 코믹 댄스 스테이지로 만들었다.

LEE, Jae-Young
After finishing Seoul Art College in 2004, he graduated from Hansung University majoring Dance. As a competent dancer, he received golden prize in '04 University Dance Competition and silver prize in '05 competition hosted by the Korea Contemporary Dance Association. He was recognized as a choreographer by showing <Nephilim> in the '06 Seoul Dance Competition, Choreographer part. In 'the Babel' showed in the last 3rd Seoul Dance Collection, he was commented that he was a competent rookie making lots of motion in 1 minute.

I want to represent eagerness and emptiness of relaxation, adding flexible and organic movements of the basketball. By using the constantly movable ball's image and the burning out and fatigue from continuous exercise, I represent one image with the desperation of relax and the following emptiness.
While I am running for my sake at the very moment when my body movement is totally stopped, it is my relaxation, that is, the emptiness at that time. To express fatigue given by continuous exercise, and eagerness for relaxation by that fatigue, and subsequent emptiness by relaxation, those images are combined with the basketball constantly bounding a ball, so that audience could breathe and empathize together, not feel awkward. In addition, without using sets or tools and by just using body movements and representing body movement focused on the theme, I maximize use of physical energy.

The story of the Babel Tower appears in Genesis. In the beginning, all humans shared the same language. But the endless greed of humans ultimately led them to build a tower to reach the skies. in due course, God became angered and decided to break up the human language into several different ones. humans became distrustful of each other, fought amongst them selves and the discord of language was born. The tower was dismantled and language barriers were established.
This story attempts to portray the truth behind misunderstanding and actions that cause rifts among humans.
Human languages led to the birth of falseness, though their actions remained sincere.

It is natural that a human being is born, live, and die.
We live in this world, can't imagine there out of here for we are used to here and have a regret about this life until our death. As Ecclesiastes Chapter3 describes, nothing is permanent in this world. This is eternal rule. Everything in this world exists like that, repeating between live and death. However, only human being is afraid of the world after death, and is terrified of being dead with regret of this life. A regret, he always has a regret. He has a regret about this life where he is living now. Everything has the time and the time limit.
The most natural thing in that world makes me sad mostly.
It is quite natural, so I am tremendously sad.

I am trying to talk about yearning, hope and dream.
I am a choreographer and dance chatter.
Guitarist to me is that fantasy and the object of yearning, although that would be vague dream. I am still imagine.
I am living a boring and repeated life as everyone does.
I think there are so many people like me who are distressful for daily routine and continual boring time. Always we feel big gap between dream and reality. We are standing on the border line of going to fit the framework of the world and seeking our own desire. That is the topic I want to talk and show on the stage.
