김성용 KIM SUNG YONG

“무엇이 우리를 춤추게 하는가?”

몸이라는 매체를 통해서 어떻게 리듬의 서사들을 만들어 내는가? 더불어 어떻게 빈 허공에 존재의 흔적을 남기는가? 라는 화두를 바탕으로 신체에 침전된 기억과 무의식을 춤이라는 언어로 무대라는 시공간에 담아내는 예술가이다. 

김성용은 한국 최고 권위의 콩쿠르 중 하나인 동아 무용콩쿠르에서 최연소 금상을 수상하고, 한국인 최초로 일본 국제 무용 콩쿠르의 본선에 진출하여 은메달을 수상하였으며,

2003년 한국무용협회의 젊은 안무자 창작공연에서 최우수안무자로 선정, 2008년에는 댄스비전 코리아의 대한민국 최고 무용수상을 수상, 2011년 대한민국 무용대상 BEST5선정,

2013년에는 한국무용예술상 안무상과 함께 댄스비젼 코리아에서 최우수 안무가상을 수상, 2013년 서울무용제에서는 안무작 ‘초인’으로 대상을 수상하는 등 명실상부 최고의 실력을 인정받는 한국의 무용수이자 안무가이다.

최근에는 자신의 무용단 Dance Company MooE를 리드하여 프랑스의 떠오르는 컨템포러리극단 UNISOMBISITE와의 콜라보레이션을 국립안무센터 muse de la danse에서 성황리에 치루었으며, 2014년 국립현대무용단의 초청안무가로 선정되기도 하였다.

2014~2015년에는 교토조형예술대학 무대예술센터 주최아래, 시라이 츠요시(일본)와 공동안무를 통해 완성한 작품 ‘원색충동’을 2015년 9월 교토에서 프리미어 공연을 가졌고 이어 2016년 2월 됴쿄 세타가야 리퍼블릭에서 공연을 가진바 있다.

KIM, Sung-Yong is a skilled Korean dancer and choreographer who was the youngest winner of the gold medal at Donga Dance Concour, which is one of the prestigious concours of Korea, was the first person who advanced to the finals of the Japanese International Dance Councour and awared a silver medal, and was awared a prize for the best Korean dancer by Dance Vision Korea in 2008. He continues to push his boundaries of activity to the world such as performance with professional dance companies in Paris, France and invitation single performance at the concert to commemorate the opening of ‘DENEUVE’. Particularly, he has been soldifying his position in the international dance scene while he has developed performance career in various Japanese stages such as national Aoyama theatre and new national theatre at their invitation.

Meanwhile, after selection as the best chereographer at Korean young chereographer creative performance in 2003, he received Sinjin art fund and international cultural exchange fund etc, played the leading role to announce Korean contemporary dance to the world, and was invited to the Seoul dance festival, MODAFE, Dance Biennale, and Bagnolet inernational chereography festival. In addition, he aims for inspiration through various activities in various place and he has done lot of activities in Australia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan as Korean representative chereographer of the multi-national dance company ‘HOMELESS DANCE COMPANY. He also participated in production of several high-budge feature filims as a chereographer. Moreover, he has been one of Korean representative dancers announcing unique artistic value and expanded his actvitivies  overseas such as Montauban theater in France and Tanz house in Swiss in 2010. Recently he has been invited as a collaboration artist and toured in 3 festivals in Italy for 1 month of July. At present he has been choosed as a invitation chereograher by the Korea National Contemporary Dance Company(KNCDC) and he is teaching and training now brilliant dancers choosed by KNCDC and will present a new dance work in December.
